AJ Rafael (born March 23, 1989[1]) is a Filipino American musician and Internet celebrity. He is best known for his original songs such as I Just Want You and We Could Happen. Some of his influences include Sara Bareilles, Jason Mraz, MYMP, The Beatles, John Legend, and Bob Marley.[1]

Career/Life

AJ started posting on YouTube in 2006, and has since gotten over 300,000 subscribers and over 73,000,000 hits.[3][4] In 2011, he was nominated to be a part of Billboard's Battle of the Bands alongside Gentlemen Hall, Otenki, Hotels, Lightning Love (band), and Side by Side.[5][6]

Music Speaks

Music Speaks was started in 2006 when looking for a charity to donate to for his concert. Since his nephew, Nathan, has autism, he decided to donate to Autism Speaks.[7] This concert utilizes the gifts of music and dance to inspire those fortunate enough to be born without autism to speak out for those who were, by being aware of their condition and taking action towards improving their living conditions and perhaps even uncovering the mystery behind its cause.[8] Some of the previous performers for these concerts include:[1][9]

Discography

AJ's full-length album, Red Roses, was released on June 7, 2011.[6] One of his songs, "Emma Watson", is about his eponymous celebrity crush.[10]
